SEMINAR: Structural Health Monitoring and the Kahramanmaraş Aftershocks (May 12, 2026)

Dr. Mehmet Çelebi and Dr. Rufus Catchings, conducting their research within the United States Geological Survey (USGS), delivered two seminars covering earth sciences and structural engineering at our Institute on May 12, 2026.

In the first part of the program held at the Meeting Hall of the Institute Administration Building on the Kandilli Campus, Dr. Mehmet Çelebi shared with the participants the structural monitoring data and analysis results obtained from the self-anchored, single-towered segment of the San Francisco Bay Bridge during his presentation titled "Structural Monitoring and Analyses of Data from Self Anchored Single-Towered Segment of SF Bay Bridge from a Small Event."

Subsequently, in his presentation titled "Lessons Learned from Aftershocks of 2023-24 Southern Earthquakes Using Nodal Seismometers," Dr. Rufus Catchings conveyed the scientific insights and field experiences acquired from the aftershock processes of the 2023 Kahramanmaraş Earthquakes using nodal seismometers.
