OBS Data Retrieval in the Marmara Sea
Kandilli Observatory is conducting an operational study with a TÜBİTAK ship in the Sea of Marmara today. 5 researchers from Japan are also participating in the operation, which is personally managed by our Institute Director Prof. Özel.
The first of the 8 OBS (Ocean Bottom Seismometer) systems that collected data from the seabed for 8 months was brought to the sea surface early this morning. The recorded data will be taken and the evaluation phase will be started, and important information about fault and earthquake activity will be obtained.
