August 17–18, 2026 Public Open Day Visits

Within the scope of the August 17–18 Public Open Days, our visitors had the opportunity to observe firsthand the various fields of study and scientific research conducted at our Institute.

Disaster awareness practices at DepremPark, observational and research studies at the Astronomy Laboratory, earthquake and tsunami monitoring processes at the Regional Earthquake-Tsunami Monitoring Center (RETMC), and our scientific heritage spanning from the past to the present at the Kandilli History of Science Collections were shared with the visitors.

Visitors had the opportunity to gain insight into a wide range of topics—from the operational mechanisms of earthquake and tsunami monitoring systems to astronomical observations, and from Kandilli’s scientific heritage dating back to 1868 to the ongoing research carried out at our Institute—and to address their questions directly to our experts.

Throughout the Open Days, a platform of engagement was established where we were able to convey our research not merely through its outcomes, but directly through the methodologies applied and the infrastructure utilized.
